Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood: anxious
Current music:outkast - hey ya

couldn't resist the opportunity...
so, there were MULTIPLE emails in my inbox this morning that just cannot go unmentioned. the first, from good old, reliably insane chris wray:

"Actual Big Four humor...

Me: It's 404! (Referring to the time.)
Me: No, I'm kidding.
Me: I'm not that big of a nerd.
Peter: That's not funny.
Peter: That's all I am doing next week... walkthroughs. (The process of documenting internal controls work.)
Peter: And you are that big of a nerd...
Peter: We all are...

Sarbanes 404 is the law governing internal controls audit work."

my two responses included:
1. you are a dork, and
2. i dont work in the accounting department of a global corporation. i've never heard of sox 404. in fact, the two audits i did earlier this summer had absolutely nothing to do with 404 compliance measures.

i love how he sat RIGHT NEXT TO ME during 2 different lectures on sox 404 in CFO class last semester, and yet still thought i was too stupid to know what it was. i'm almost insulted...
-----------
email # 2 was a pleasantly shocking surprise from the lovely diana schonfeld:
"He grew out his hair a little bit, but still has that bald spot...

That's right, folks, I ran into the one and only Professor Erik Durbin on the Red line Metro train last night coming home from the Nationals game. We briefly exchanged glances and said "hey" to each other...it was quite awkward...plus, he was cuddling with some ugly chick, and you could hear them making smooching noises...I still feel somewhat nauseated..."

to be honest, that's a man i have NOT thought of since freshman year - mostly because i didn't want to think about him... ewww... what a strange blast from the past.

----------
the third and final email i wish to share with you is from mr. nidetz:
"If you didn't get sunburned enough on Sunday....perhaps we should do a little beach party action this Saturday? Are we still planning on going? Gimme the ol' 411, with a twist! I like my news hard..."

that was an image i did NOT need in my head! but, i suppose it's my own fault for having my mind in the gutter.
---------
i really should leave the office for hours at a time more often - i've never gotten so many emails before! (i had more than three, you jerks! i just only shared the funnier ones with you.)

anyway, because i'm in the mood for a long entry, i shall share the funness of the sox game with you:
it rained. hard. for over an hour. and the sox lost. but we got some funny pictures outta the game, we got paid because it rained, and my phone almost died from all the text messages i sent out. plus, i got to teach sid the rules of baseball - some of which i surprised myself by knowing!

ok, that's IT! if ANOTHER person emails me to tell me they've finished/started/liked/hated the new harry potter book, i'm going to throw myself off the sears tower. STOP RUBBING IT IN, PEOPLE! i'm in enough agony as it is! (stupid UPS)

the lady whose cubicle is caddy-corner to mine sounds like she's dying. she's been super-sick for over a week now, and everytime she starts coughing i have to leave because it sounds like she's coughing up her spleen or something. good thing the printer is far away. bad thing that i've had to kill multiple trees to keep myself from gagging everytime she coughs.

so, i mentioned earlier that i was reading some of my old lj entries. they are ridiculous! wow i was a stupid freshman. kind of funny, though, b/c half of the things i wrote were purposely vague so as not to offend anyone. and because i have a terrible memory, i've got no clue what most of it means! (notice how now i've pretty much stopped caring what people think about my entries... it's an interesting change to note)

ok, i really should do something productive. like work on my final presentation. lucky me gets to GO FIRST. *ewww* - at least i get it out of the way sooner. and by midday, people will have forgotten my presentation completely. which is good, cuz its gonna be boring.

The White Sox suck.

DOOOOOOD, HARRY POTTER ROCKS! The way he did the thing with the thing around the middle of the book that turned into the thing with the glowing things and two big huge things on his things, was RIDICULOUS and made me want to GO TO A COSTUME STORE AND BECOME HARRY POTTER MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
